Francis Tady

De La Salle College of St. Benilde Photo Department / Chairman

Francis Fausto Tady is the Chairperson of the AB Photography Program in the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Manila. While working on his undergraduate thesis as a History major, he came across Dean C. Worcester’s ethnographic photographs, which sparked his interest in photography as a means of constructing identity. Taking it beyond the act of simply taking pictures, he believes in the capacity of photography to address issues of representation and identity. In 2014, he obtained an M.F.A. in Photography from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He was also invited to join the 27th Eddie Adams Workshop in New York of the same year. In a bid to strengthen visual literacy among local photographers, he took part in the writing of the AB Photography Program’s curriculum in 2016 and the review of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s Functional Analysis for Photography under the Visual Arts sector in 2018. He usually teaches the History and Concepts of Photography, Visualization, and Looking at Photographs courses at DLS-CSB. His works have been exhibited both locally and abroad and have received awards and recognition.
