Laya Boquiren, PhD

Dr. Laya Boquiren is Deputy Director of the programs and projects of the Nayong Pilipino Foundation. Prior to this engagement, she served as a consultant for various institutions, creative hubs, and local and international projects. Boquiren has a Doctor of Philosophy in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines. Under the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Initiative, she trained in short focused programs on the Creative Industries at the Institute of Media and Entertainment New York and Keio University Japan. Boquiren was one of the 21 fellows at the recently concluded International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property or ICCROM’s People-Centered Approaches to the Conservation of Nature and Culture World Heritage Leadership Program. She is a member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites Philippines (ICOMOS) Sustainable Development Goals Working Group (SDG-WG) and a Trustee at the Heritage Conservation Society (HCS).
