The Philippine Scops Owl is endemic to Luzon. And the University, given its rich tree cover, has been home to a family of the Scops Owl. These owls have been found in the vicinity of the College of Science and in a certain spot in the University Oval, attracting birders from everywhere. In the image is a juvenile. The residency of these owls inside the campus affirms the continuing harmony of the University with flora and fauna, the campus greens providing one of the few remaining forest cover for wildlife in the metropolis.
