Scale-feathered Malkohas are endemic to the Philippines and known to be skittish and a skulker birds. Very sensitive and quick to hide. Usual diet are small insects and worms. Status is classified as least concern.

This is one of the birds found in Makiling Botanic Gardens (MBG), managed by Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems of the UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR). The vast forest area with a water stream inside Makiling Botanical Garden is home to a lot of beautiful birds because of its well preserved forest ecosystem.
