Cancer Treatment Never Stopped
During the height of the lockdowns and restrictions due to the pandemic, cancer patients are one of the population that suffered. Cancer patients should receive timely treatment but with less exposure from the hospital. This photo depicts a procedure, nasopharyngeal brachytherapy, that is quite unpopular but can be used to deliver radiation therapy with less that the usual duration of treatment - from 30 days down to 4 days. The procedure was done in the Division of Radiation Oncology in PGH and doctors were provided with PPEs from the hospital to ensure their safety from the procedure.
PS. Photo was taken with patient's permission.
