I lost my father to the Corona virus some months back and was still in mourning when I took this photo of the UP Baguio oblation on a chilly, overcast July afternoon. It was the height of lockdowns and not many people were out as authorities maintained checkpoints. Every visit to the UP campus means presenting an ID, a health declaration form and going through a triage. Perhaps in a similar way, the oblation, as the name suggests, presents and offers himself while saying a prayer to this haze of a pandemic, a foggy uncertain predicament.
